APPRECIATING THE BOUNTY

Late summer and early fall is the time to appreciate the fruits of our labor......harvest time. Growing your own vegetables, harvesting them, preparing them for storage and then cooking with them, can be very rewarding. This is as green as you can get. Most people have room for at least a pot of tomatoes. If not, then supporting other local growers, not only helps those growers, but it helps to save the earth and there is definitely something to be said about the health aspects of eating local food. Locavores have a better handle on how their food was grown.Researchers also are finding out that food produces it's own protection against local diseases...molds...etc and it is thought that these protections may be passed on to us. Like honey for example, most of us have heard that taking local honey everyday for allergies, is a means to immunize oneself against the local pollen.

So...take a break from the chaos and propaganda and take time to revel in the beauty and bounty of God's universe.
